Feith Mhor - Cairngorms holiday cottages

Luxury country house set amidst delightful gardens and grounds with marvellous views to the west over the remote Monadhliath hills.

The Cairngorms National Park is the largest in Britain, covering 3,800 kilometres of beautiful and unspoilt countryside. Over 16,000 people live and work in the towns and villages throughout the area and every year thousands of visitors travel here to enjoy the fabulous scenery, from wild moorlands and soaring mountain peaks to spectacular rivers and tranquil lochs.

The park has something for everyone - whether it’s simply admiring the ever changing views of the spectacular mountains, or walking with a ranger led group learning about the plants and animals in native pine woods. For the more energetic there are plenty of opportunities to go mountain biking, canoeing or climbing. The area also has a rich cultural heritage with castle, fortified houses and estates all happy to welcome visitors. Hundreds of countryside events, outdoor activities, guided walks and talks take place throughout the Park each year

Feith Mhor is close to the Whisky Trail, a heavenly combination of whisky and water awaits you in whisky country, encapsulating the true spirit of Scotland. A unique trail of world famous malts, distinctive distilleries and a unique cooperage weaves among the woods and glens of the Spey Valley.

Feith Mhor feels remote yet is set in the small highland town of Carrbridge, and is ideally placed for touring in all directions of this part of Scotland. The owners have gone to great efforts to make Feith Mhor a comfortable and attractive choice for staying in this area. The quality of Scottish self-catering is slowly stepping up its game and Feith Mhor is in the ranks of some of the best places there are.

The entire house has been refurbished but done in a traditional way. The house is full of fine furniture,  set in its own grounds, the rooms are cosy and the dining room is very grand, perfect for long meals with good friends and family. This is a perfect house to meet up with old friends, to share some time together and relax in comfort.

The house keeper was very friendly and told me about the area and helped inform me of what to see and do during my stay. The owner is very welcoming; he let my boys see his birds of prey and I have photos of them on the wall in my office.

Would I choose to day here for a full holiday? Of course, and there is so much to see here that I could come many times over.

Our top 5 reasons why you would choose to stay at this excellent self catering property
hotel We have had several Munro baggers stay so far and they have loved the accommodation and the proximity to not just Munro mountains but also Corbetts and Grahams.
good area for fishing Many fishermen stay here, and we have two rod permits available on the farmers water (salmon & trout) on the River Avon between Tomintoul & Ballindalloch. In addition to this, permits for other beats on the Avon are are available on a daily basis from Tomintoul Post Office, and fishing on the Spey is available by buying a permit from nearby Grantown.
self catering We are right in the heart of the Speyside Malt Whisky Trail! In addition to this , with a bit of notice we can get our friends at Tomintoul Distillery (who don't open to the public) to give you a free private tour! We really are in a perfect place for the whisky connesieur!
hotel We are in a superb location to interact with all sorts of wildlife. We're on 50 acres of working farmland and are surrounded by sheep, cows, pheasants, grouse.
hotel The Lecht is a short drive away, and has had superb seasons in the last 3 years. This friendly centre caters for novice skiers and snowboarders as well as experts, who tend to love the more difficult runs. Equipment is available for hire, and we can recommend tubing for the kids – who wouldn’t love sliding down a giant hill in a massive inner-tube? The food on offer in the restaurant is good and also reasonably priced.
