Luxury farm cottage self catering in peaceful location with lovely view

Turning off from the main road, we follow quiet tracks along the river, through green fields and woodland until we become enveloped in a peace and quiet that is broken only by the sounds of nature and farm life; a pheasant cackling, a tractor in the distance, wind in the trees. Deep in the lovely countryside, with uninterrupted views of the river and woods and surrounded by the beautiful Angus hills and glens, we find our lovely farm holiday cottage waiting to welcome us.

The attractive, tidy cottage is perfectly situated to enjoy the views. Warm, multicoloured stone walls are recently repointed and finished with lovely red sandstone cornerstones and traditional style sash windows; a decking area with seating sits ready for al fresco meals or drinks and there's a generous gravel parking area; the neat lawn blends seamlessly into the countryside beyond.

Inside, style, space and luxury are key throughout the house. What a pleasure to come into such a beautiful, spacious and well-equipped kitchen: dove grey units topped with smart granite worktops and a fantastic range cooker, a wonderful view through the window and plenty of room for a dining table too. Through in the large living room the sublte colour scheme continues and we find ample comfy seating on the large leather sofas where we can sit back after day exploring, kick off shoes, relax and enjoy the warmth of the wood stove on cooler evenings.

All three bedrooms are spacious and stylish too and all five members of the party delighted with them; it's particularly pleasing to find a single room that is just as lovely as the other rooms. With three great bathrooms too, we're really spoilt!

For those who are lost without their gadgets, the free WiFi, iPod dock and Wii are a bonus and there are plenty of toys and board games too for more traditional entertainment. If the weather is good though, the countryside beckons. From the door are lovely walks suitable for all ages and inclinations - the river is close by and an ideal place for a stroll and there's so much to do here without going too far. Around and about are some lovely villages (do visit Memus and the pub there) as well as wonderful walks in the Angus hills. A visit to the coast with its pretty harbour towns and fantastic sand dune beaches is definitely recommended - there are many stunning beaches but try St Cyrus, Lunan Bay or Carnoustie for starters.
