Stunning, modern church conversion in rural Lanarkshire

Luxurious, unusual and perfectly placed between Edinburgh and Glasgow yet in a beautiful rural position, this smart, modern church conversion is a perfect self catering venue for a group of friends or family to have a fantastic holiday combining the peace and quiet of the countryside and all the wonderful urban treats that Edinburgh and Glasgow have to offer.

Stunning features such as the bespoke metalwork on the helical staircase, tall, arched windows, rooflights which open at the touch of a button and the most beautiful stained glass which was designed and made by the owners, make this modern church conversion special. There is plenty of space for a group of ten to chill out in the large open plan living area, plus the mezzanine snooker area and snug provide a variety of spaces to spread into. Underfloor heating keeps the whole house cosy and bright, minimalist decor gives a smart, modern feel.

For meals in, the kitchen has been well set out and equipped to cater for a larger group, with double range oven, plenty of fridge and freezer space and all the right labour saving gadgets including, importantly, a dishwasher. Because of the open plan layout, those on chef duty are not isolated from the rest of the party whilst being creative in the kitchen. Step through to the patio for al fresco meals with a view!

Bedrooms are cosy and luxurious; I especially love the upstairs master bedroom with its huge circular window looking out over the hills - what a view to wake up to! Very helpfully for a large group, there is plenty of flexibility so far as sleeping arrangements go: three bedrooms may be set up as double or twin; one of the downstairs bedrooms has an ensuite wetroom and is set up for disabled use and - what a treat - there's a sauna and steamroom too!

So here we are in the middle of the beautiful Lanarkshire countryside, in a unique, luxury self catering house with everything we could possibly need for a great holiday right on our doorstep - there are walks and cycle routes to explore close by and a pleasant, easy forty minute drive will take us to Edinburgh in one direction or Glasgow in the other. If you don't fancy parking in the city, nearby train stations have regular services to both cities.

A large open plan kitchen, lounge and dining room, three double bedrooms (each can be configured as a king size or twins), a large family bathroom, a utility room, and sauna/steam room. Doors lead to the patio area outside and inside a bespoke helical staircase heads upstairs. All doors downstairs are suitable for wheelchair access and one downstairs bedroom is fitted with an en-suite wetroom suitable for disabled use. This bedroom also has its own TV. The other two bedrooms share the family bathroom. Please note that there is no wheelchair access upstairs. Wi-Fi access is available throughout the building. A washing machine, tumble dryer and American style fridge freezer are in the utility room. The kitchen has a large dual oven range, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and tea and coffee making facilities.

Upstairs:

Two en-suite double bedrooms, a galleried snooker area, a snug with large screen plasma TV and DVD and a cloakroom. The master bedroom has a king size bed, an en-suite shower and bath and a two metre high round window facing south providing uninterrupted views to the hills.
The second bedroom is our smallest, but still has space for a double bed and en-suite shower room. We have a full size snooker table in an open plan area with a five panel stained glass window, a Hi-Fi System and a cloakroom. The snug has a comfortable sofa, a flatscreen digital TV and DVD player.

Outside:
The church is in a rural location almost exactly half way between Edinburgh and Glasgow. There is parking for four cars with space for more by arrangement. There is a graveyard on two sides of the building which is well maintained and stained glass privacy panels are in place in bedrooms on this side. To the rear of the building there is a patio with a large table and chairs.
