Two luxury cottages nestled in a secluded spot in the mountains at the head of Strath Croe, each sleeps 4

Burns tumble down from the rugged mountains on all sides, feeding into the River Croe which in turn flows and winds through the glen around kinks and islets and finally feeding into the sea at Loch Duich. This is the most beautiful, remote and scenic area and tucked away over a wee bridge at the foot of the mountains are two very special, brand new holiday cottages which provide  luxurious accommodation for holidaymakers wishing to make the most of it.

We can hardly believe how lucky we are as we pull up and feel even luckier when we go inside.  The living room is beautiful, tall and light with huge windows looking right onto the mountains and French doors leading onto the decking where the barbcue sits - we shall definitely be using this on these warm sunny evenings and have come prepared with lots of treats to cook al fresco.

The downstairs master bedroom has the wow! factor too - warm reds and natural colours making it luxuriously cosy and the ensuite bathroom is very swish - as if that wasn't enough we can walk straight out onto the decking to use the sauna and hot tub while enjoying the amazing scenery. Upstairs is another lovely big bedroom and a seating area that looks down over the living room - a good place to sit quietly and read.

Here in this most beautiful spot, I'm glad to be able to enjoy all of my favourite pursuits without moving the car from where we first parked it. Stepping out of the door takes us straight onto paths along the river and up into the mountains. Hiking through spectacular scenery to the atmostpheric Falls of Glomach is one of the most memorable days of my life and I'm so glad I took my binoculars - its'a rare sight to watch a golden eagle from above, its fingerlike wings moving constantly in the airflow.

WIldlife watching can also be done from the deck or the windows back at our luxury accommodation - red deer come down early and late to graze near the cottage and at this time of year it's light so late that it's not uncommon to come across the more nocturnal animals such as badgers and foxes while enjoying a late dram on the veranda. Wildlife watching from the hot tub - now that really is decadent!

Another great day out - this time involving the car for a change - is a tour of the Isle of Skye. A beautiful half hour drive takes us to the ferry and we are soon on the (thankfully not misty today) island, where we take our time exploring and enjoying the views. I have always had a hankering to find the legendary Fairy Pools and to swim in their cool, blue waters below the famous Cuillins and I can report that this is a truly magical and invigorating experience, especially on a lovely hot day like today.
