New Lodge large luxury holiday homes

Luxury modern self catering near Plockton - sleeps 18

New Lodge is an impressive and extremely comfortable lodge suitable for up to 18 people, ideally suited for special events such as weddings, family get togethers, or corporate functions. I try to take short breaks with 6 other couples and we seek out properties like this to stay in, but we rarely manage to book anything as perfect as this. New Lodge is the perfect base to explore Wester Ross and the Applecross Peninsula as well as being only a stones throw from Skye. It is a great addition to the 100 best collection and there is so much to do both within the lodge and the surrounding area that it is sure to become a regular favourite of all who stay there.

The lodge is stylish, blending both antique and modern furniture to create a very warm and comfortable home. Its not just the under floor heating and the wonderful five oven Aga (with a separate Aga companion, which has a gas hob) that makes the house so comfortable, but the way it has been designed for ths particular use, everything is designed to accommodate and entertain large groups and gatherings.

The main drawing room has panoramic views down to Lochcarron and the hills beyond, as well as looking to Wellington's Nose on the north-east side.

On the first floor, accessed from the very generous and bright hall, via an oak staircase with a massive glass window in front, there are five bedrooms. Three super king beds all with en-suite facilities and all making the most of the stunning views. There are also two family rooms, each with twin beds and bunk beds and capable of sleeping 4 per room. One of these has an en-suite shower-room and the other has the use of the adjoining main bathroom, which has both shower and bath.

I love the "Ceilidh Shed" outside, it has a snooker table, pool table, table tennis table, table football, darts and if that doesn't take your fancy, how about roulette or black jack. There is also a second American fridge/freezer and sofas to relax and enjoy a movie on the 58" TV with home movie and Sky HD. You may find you don't see the kids all week!

There is also a double tennis court in front of the Ceilidh Shed and patio tables and chairs to enjoy the spectacular sunsets.

There is fishing available, in season, on the River Carron. Fishing is subject to separate negotiation with the owners and is over 2 1/2 miles double bank with no restriction on numbers of rods.

Strathcarron railway station is only minutes away and is situated on the main Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh route, making the house even more accessible. Lochcarron village is a 5 minute car journey away where you will find local shops, garage, bistro and pubs.
