Our top 5 reasons why you would choose to stay at this excellent self catering property
Fort William is at the heart of Lochaber, close to the foot of Ben Nevis, Britain's highest peak. To the south is Glen Coe, a mecca for hillwalkers and mountaineer, while the other parts of Lochaber are no anti-climax. The region becomes wilder and less visited to the north, culminating in the peninsula of Knoydart, one of the most rugged parts of Britain. There are softer landscapes too, from the popular lochs of the Great Glen to Ardnamurchan and its fabulous sea-scapes.
The Lochaber area has been described by some as a fishing heaven and this can probably be justified by some of the large salmon, trout and ferox trout which have been caught in the lochs and rivers over the years.
Take the train from Fort William to Mallaig and cross the famous Glenfinnan viaduct, an unmistakeable landmark for all Harry Potter fans, on the fictional journey to Hogwarts School. Some of the carriages of The Jacobite are those used in the Harry Potter films.
This lovely cosy cottage makes a perfect venue for a romantic break.
There are great restaurants to enjoy: The Smiddy, Inverlochy Castle, The Lime Tree, The Crannog and The Seafood Cafe, to mention a few. |
