Loch Nevis Lodge

Luxury west coast self catering accommodation with outdoor hot tub - sleeps from 4 up to 10

This is one of Scotland's most sought after holiday accommodations, and voted A Conde Nast property "Top 100 Best Cottages Britain” The Times 2016 "Top 20 Best Wild Places to Stay” The Times 2015 - you will have to be very lucky to get your week - it's going to be very busy!
My work with this guide is to scour everywhere to discover the very best self catering accommodation in Scotland, and I came across a blog that was describing the building process of this magnificent house. At first I just thought it was interesting that someone would write a blog about this and kept my eye on it from time to time. But it became clear in this blog that they were going to build something spectacular and I think you will agree that they have. It all sounded breathless, as has been the whole blog of the build; every choice they have made has not been based on cost, but on what would be best for the visitor.
Knoydart House is a stunning luxury eco designed hideaway with large floodlit hot tub on the remote Knoydart Peninsula, with two private moorings and 'one of the best lochside hot tub views in the UK' voted by The Times in their Top 20 Luxury Scottish Boltholes. Boats and fast water taxis run daily to this stunning house. The house sleeps 10 in 5 bedrooms and is accessible only by boat, offering a very unique island-like lifestyle. A true wilderness holiday on a highland estate for groups, families, artists, munro baggers, walking/climbing enthusiasts as well as for fishing, sea-kayaking, bird watching, red deer stalking and photography - or just relaxing in idyllic surroundings. Overlooking Loch Nevis and the Small Isles, Knoydart House is true remote luxury and a special escape as featured in Conde Nast Traveller and Homes and Interiors Scotland.
This stunning holiday house has floor to ceiling glass, uninterrupted views, Douglas Fir vaulted ceilings, open beams, oak fittings and Italian tiled under-floor heating, with dry-stone features, open plan kitchen, luxury brands throughout, and a wood-burning stove. Designed with real attention to detail, four poster antique canopied bed with memory foam mattress, uninterrupted lochside views, monsoon style showers, high quality fittings, tailor-made soft furnishings and special touches throughout from antique tables and chairs, port on arrival to organic highland hand soap and hand lotions in all the bathrooms.
Go island hopping on the fast water taxis to the Inner Hebridean isles of Rum, Canna, Muck, Eigg and Isle of Skye - boats sail daily. Knoydart is traditionally known as the 'Rough Bounds' and 'Britain's Last Wilderness' because of its remoteness; it is also a designated national scenic area. An excellent walkers' base to take in Knoydart's three munros; Ladhar Bheinn, Meall Budhie and Luinne Bheinn. Or sit on the quiet secluded beaches, enjoy beach barbeques, al fresco breakfasts or mackerel fishing for supper. Knoydart is a rare Treasure Island escape with no roads in, and made for children and adults on downtime. Take the Hogwarts Express 'Jacobite Steam train' (favoured by a certain little wizard!) on a return day trip from Mallaig or visit the famous Camusdarach beach featured in Burt Lancaster's film Local Hero. Climb Brockets Monument, learn about the last Scottish land raid, see the cairn for the Seven Men of Knoydart or take one of many organised ranger guided walks. Try raft building, paddling in burns, shell collecting, climbing waterfalls, swim in the rivers, build forest dens, go crabbing and mussel picking or fungi foraging or hire fast rib charters to experience remote beach barbeques and bonfires, lobster ot hauling, fishing or step back in time and visit Gavin Maxwell's beach - all from Knoydart House.
The multi-award winning local pub The Old Forge is the 'remotest pub in mainland Britain', recognised by Peter Irvine as one of the best in Scotland, commended for its seasonal seafood, real ale and impromptu folk music ceilidhs. Fresh creel langoustines, scallops and mussels are landed in season during the season on the pier - only a 5 minute walk away; a soporific companion to this stunning self catering house in Knoydart. There is also a tearoom and pottery and other dining options locally.
If there are more than 10 in your party you may also book the brand new luxury, off grid and very romantic hideaway nearby which sleeps 2. With its own sauna and outdoor hot tub, this is a truly wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion or just have a very relaxing holiday.
