Further details about this accommodation |
The Cabin has under floor heating powered by ground-source technology, coupled with the superb insulation qualities offered by specialist glazing and a turf roof, giving you all the comfort you would want with minimal impact on the environment.
The split level open plan living area features a wall of glass to afford panoramic views of the sea and mountains beyond – a wall which custom-built Nordan doors can retract to create uninterrupted access to extensive decking.
Just in case you tire of the view, there is satellite television with free access to thousands of movies.
There is a modern Scandinavian wood-burning stove, a CD/MP3 dock music centre and, alongside a raised dining area, a fully equipped kitchen featuring an induction hob, dishwasher and larder fridge.
The Cabin has one twin bedroom sharing the same magnificent views to the front, a full-sized bathroom with separate shower, and a master bedroom with its own en suite facilities and wet room. A complimentary gift of locally produced soaps and candle with scents such as lemongrass, juniper and lavender will help you relax after a long day’s walking or sight-seeing.
For that extra degree of peace and seclusion you can always settle down in the study with its leather armchair, library of books and window desk. Here you will also find the telephone and broadband wi fi hub.
A boot room with freezer and washer/dryer and all the household equipment and supplies you could ever need completes the picture.
Outside, The Cabin is all but surrounded by decking affording every opportunity to sit in sun or shelter at any time of the day. Beyond this, almost half an acre of grounds slope down to the shore. Mature native woodland flanks The Cabin on one side while elsewhere, after the recent build, we have begun an extensive programme of planting trees and flowering shrubs.
Our top five things to do while staying at eco self catering Hebrides | |
Whether it be modest hill walking or serious mountaineering, woodland walks or coastal rambles, Skye offers everything you could want. The Cuillins boasts 12 Munros among its 24 peaks, while the more accessible though equally spectacular Trotternish Ridge can be tackled by the less adventurous. |
|
There are plenty of opportunities for hiring boats or for guided tours around Skye or to the mainland. Bella Jane and Safari offer trips from 45 minutes to a full day around Skye and the nearby small islands. It's best to check ahead during the winter season to see what's running. For dinghy or yacht sailing contact Skye Sailing Club and Sail Scotland. |
|
Visit Dunvegan Castle, the seat of the Clan MacLeod, steeped in history and reputedly the oldest inhabited castle in Scotland and Armadale Castle where the fascinating Clan Donald Centre can be found. Both have excellent gift shops and places to eat. |
|
The Gaelic Whiskies company, based at Eilean Iarmain, offers bottlings of local malts and blends and Skye has its own distillery at Talisker, making one of the finest single malts in the world – ‘the king o’ drinks’ according to Robert Louis Stevenson. |
|
The Hotel Eilean and award-winning restaurant at the Duisdale House Hotel are only a short walk away, while Claire Macdonald’s world-famous Kinloch Lodge and the excellent Toravaig House Hotel are just a five minute drive. For those looking for a more relaxed dining experience, Skye abounds in restaurants serving fine local produce, among them the Stein Inn, Waternish and Red Skye at Breakish. |
